How We Fell

Colquhoun, Glenn

Colquhoun (the author of The Art of Walking Upright, An Explanation of Poetry to my Father, Jumping Ship, and Playing God ) describes his ten-year relationship with his former wife — through all of its highs, cries, lies and sighs — in 45 poems and comic strips. The illustrations are by Nikki Slade Robinson.

She is shadow and ice,

the snow-white bull
putting my red
heart to flight.

beautiful without her.
